Launch Date: Spring 2006

The Playstation 3 is 35 times more powerful than the PS2. Its graphics are powered by an NVidia graphics chip. The controllers on the PS3 use Bluetooth technology as standard, and can accommodate up to 7 players at one time. Additional controllers can be connected to one of up to 6 USB 2.0 ports available.

The media format that the games will be stored on is called Blu-ray. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25 GB - roughly 5 times more storage than a standard single-layer DVD. The Blu-ray drive will support all Blu-ray formats and be fully backward compatible with current CD and DVD formats to enable PSOne and PS2 games to be played.

The PS3 has an online connection via Ethernet.

Nintendo Wii Review - Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 might have all the bells and whistles, but Nintendo’s Wii game console has something the two gaming giants desire: Enjoyment from all walks of gamers. Consider the Wii a larger version of Nintendo’s hand-held DS system. The graphics are not as refined and awe-inspiring as those on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but the games are fun to play nonetheless. The Wii’s remote-control wand is the trick. It turns the casual gamer into one who can play into the “Wii” hours of the morning. Gamers can swing the wand like a baseball bat and connect for a home run. In the game “Excite Truck,” the gamer can twist the wand side to side like a steering wheel. Exclusive to Nintendo’s Wii is “Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam...

PS3 News - Two months and counting: that’s what video-game enthusiasts are saying in anticipation of Sony’s release of its PlayStation 3. Well, it’s really only the folks in Japan, United States and Canada who are counting the days. And, unfortunately, many of them might not be able to buy the PlayStation 3 after its release. Recent news from Sony revealed that production problems have forced the release date of PlayStation 3 to be pushed back to March of 2007 in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The delay is caused by a problem in mass producing a key component in the Blu-ray disc laser part of the machine. Blu-ray disc is the next-generation video format for the latest DVD recorders and players, and it is an essential part of the PlayStation 3 machines. Sony is still determined to meet its initial goal of shipping 6 million PlayStation 3 machines worldwide by next March. In the meantime, PlayStation 3...

X Box 360 recall - Think twice before you take your Xbox 360 to a nearby retailer for a recall because a recall will not happen in the near future, if at all. Complaints of a system breakdown, including crashes from overheating, have circulated through the Internet since Microsoft released the Xbox 360 in North America on Nov. 22, 2005. However, these alleged problems with the Xbox 360 are no different – in fact, the difficulties are not as severe – than other units on the market, according to Microsoft. Microsoft spokespeople have stated that consumers are returning the Xbox 360 at a lower rate than the industry average of 3 to 5 percent. A glance at Microsoft.com and Xbox.com shows no information or news about technical difficulties that have affected the Xbox 360. Microsoft has chosen to ignore publicizing the issue – if there is one – and has restricted its involvement to a customer support telephone number at...

X Box 360 Problem - On November 22, 2005, electronics stores all over the United States opened their doors to a human flood of breathless gaming enthusiasts. Many had been waiting for hours, some for days. All of them had one thing in mind: getting their hands on the brand new X Box 360, Microsoft's revolutionary "next generation" gaming console. Preceded by months of ardent fan anticipation and a flurry of publicity, the massive-scale US launch of Xbox 360 was, at first glance, a stunning success. Many retailers, such as Wal-Mart, were sold out of the $300-600 console within hours of opening. Despite a shortage of the product, sales were off the charts, and everything seemed to be going as planned. Thrilled gamers all over the country got home with their 360s and began to play, only to find that a product shortage was only the first, and probably the least of Xbox 360's problems. ...

X Box 360 News - Before you start feeling sorry about Microsoft losing money on each Xbox 360 it produces, look at the total picture. Yes, it is true that the cost of all the components of an Xbox 360 totals almost $550 and the retail value of the premium version is $399. However, Microsoft, with Bill Gates at the controls, is far from being destitute over its latest video game console release that has the world buzzing...

X Box 360 vs ps3 - Now that Microsoft has launched its Xbox 360, it is Sony’s turn to show the video-gaming world what it has to offer in the high-tech world of new consoles. Sony has observed the Xbox’s release in America on Nov. 22 and Europe on Nov. 29 with great interest. It vows to use Microsoft’s marketing ploy of limiting stock to every store, creating what it perceives to be greater demand. One Sony official went so far as to say that when the PlayStation 3 is released this spring, Sony will not disclose which stores will be selling the product and some of the stores selling the console will be stocked with 10 consoles or less. Technically speaking, it appears the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are running neck-and-neck with each having a feature the other does not match...
