Xbox 360 review
XBOX 360 is Not Just for Gamers, but Also for Entertainment Enthusiasts
With the Microsoft’s new XBOX 360 game and entertainment console to be released in just a week, Nov. 22nd in North America to be exact, many current XBOX users, as well as possible new users are wondering what makes the new XBOX so special.
One of the big technological advances for the XBOX 360 is that games can be viewed in high definition when used with HDTV’s. The new XBOX 360 will also allow users to download upcoming game trailers and new levels and weapons at stores.
There are two versions that will be released, one that is very expensive and truly for the extreme gamers at $399.99 and a second version priced at $299.99. The more expensive version comes with a 20GB hard drive, a wireless controller with wireless headset, as well as a limited edition media remote.
The cheaper, scaled down version will come with a wired controller, a removable faceplate, and normal A/V cables.
One of the let downs in the new system compared to the soon to be released Playstation 3 is that the new XBOX 360 uses standard DVD playing software, which limits game space to 8.5GB. In contrast, Playstation 3 will use new Blu-ray Technology, which will allow for up to 25GB per gaming disc, and makes it compatible with high-definition DVD’s.
Nevertheless, that does not hurt the uniqueness and extreme capabilities of the XBOX 360. It will allow users to stream their favorite videos, music, and pictures from Window XP computers. The Microsoft folks are also promising that users will be able to stream media from portable devices, such as MP3 music players and digital video players.
Microsoft has been working hard over the development of the new XBOX 360 to push it as not only an extreme gaming console, but also a family portal for entertainment, such as music, movie watching, and picture sending. Microsoft executives envision the new XBOX 360 as the next generation must in technology in order to combine the many realms of entertainment into one location.
Overall, with the simplicity of the system and its many capabilities, I would highly recommend not only gamers to purchase the new XBOX 360, but also anyone who is into digital entertainment of the future. Microsoft will only continue to expand its offering in that realm, and they hope to make the XBOX the central hub for all of its multi-media technologies and programs.
The graphics, games, and wide realm of entertainment capabilities should be a major plus in boosting its long-term sells well above those of the first XBOX and Playstation 3. When you have a chance, visit your local Best Buy where many of the stores are displaying the new XBOX 360 and allowing people to play the system. From personal experience, the graphics are amazing and almost image real situations and individuals. The array of new game titles such as Harry Potter and Half-Life will make playing the new game console a must for old and new users!
